Why this event matter to us:
Did you know that mental illness, stress, depression, and sadly, suicide rates are the highest among two unique demographics:
First Responders and Foster/At-Risk Youth.
Tragically the following stats are true:
• 19.4 MILLION children live without their biological father in the home.
• 80% of Foster Youth suffer from a significant mental illness
• Police Officers are at higher risk for suicide than any other profession.
• 80% of homeless & prison population come from foster care or fatherless backgrounds, deepening the divide is that oftentimes the last interactions these youth had with a First Responder was either the removal from their home, an arrest, or probation visit.
Let's INTENTIONALLY bring these two demographics together to “Bridge the Gap” with a POWERFUL event!
